Also known as Vulva Waxing (we like to be inclusive!), Intimate Waxing covers a spectrum of intimate waxing techniques such as Brazilian, Hollywood and shaping.
The Brazilian wax was first so named in modern times by the J. Sisters salon in Manhattan, founded in 1987 by seven sisters from Brazil. Since then the treatment has spread worldwide, although there is evidence that women have been removing their pubic hair for centuries. In Middle Eastern societies, removal of the female body hair has been considered proper hygiene, and in Islam, this is known as an act of Fitrah.
This rapidly growing trend is definitely here to stay, with the traditional bikini wax slipping into the background becoming a much less requested service. The course teaches you how to use Peelable Wax – minimising pain and discomfort for your clients.
This is a highly profitable service with the treatment time anything from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on experience and speed. The advantage of this type of treatment is that your clients actually prefer to be in and out rather than taking the full time!
Treatment costs between £1.50 and £3.00, and the average charge is around £25-£30.

Students must hold a basic waxing qualification – NVQ level 2 or equivalent. It is also recommended, but not essential that students become familiar with hot wax prior to the day.
Students are expected to wax each other and have at least two week’s hair growth from shaving, and four weeks from waxing.
If students cannot be, or do not wish to be waxed a model must be provided.
Sam brought the Brazilian wax to Manchester in 2004, a time when it was just starting to get talked about as Beauty Manager at Urban Retreat in the prestigious Harvey Nichols. Her name spread like wildfire between friends and colleagues until her column was dominated with this once-specialist treatment.
Sam then embarked to train her team, creating Manchester’s elite waxers – renowned for their discretion, speed and ability to put their somewhat apprehensive clients at ease within minutes.
One client was so impressed that she wrote an article about Sam, placed in a local magazine back in in 2007.
Having been asked to teach various friends’ salons she now runs her own course accredited by Professional Beauty Direct. Sam also sits on the Habia Advisory Committee for the National Occupational Standards
